Brave New World is a novel written in 1931 by Aldous Huxley, and published in 1932. In the novel there are some society groups, races, and cultures. First, the Director of the center, whose name is “The Director” (High
authority). He is helped by Lenina Crowne and Henry Foster, both workers from Central
London Hatching and Conditioning Centre, and other people. Appears MustafΓ‘, Bernard
Marx (an Alpha-Plus psychologist who, for some reason or another, doesn’t have
the great physical characteristic of most Alphas). Helmholtz Watson, another
Alpha-Plus man who shares Bernard's dissatisfaction with their controlled and
structured lives, finally, for the system to work better, humans are divided
into several castes: Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons. Alfas citizens
are intelligent, tall and muscular; Epsilons are low, dumb and ugly.
There are some
sociological problems in which are involve many people. Example: Marxism, is represented in Brave New
world, in which the totalitarianism and power make the world spins the way it
is. Liberalism, is one of the most highlighted
problems in the book, "Everyone belongs to the whole world," which
means that when a man wants to go to bed with a woman he asks publicly and she
says yes, even, young children play erotic games with each other, and orgies
are mandatory biweekly events. The entire
society raised with that culture, being liberals. But it is a small group disagreed with everything that
happens in the place, but no one cares about it. Religion, God has been replaced by "Ford", (Ford of Henry
Ford, the man who created the assembly line and mass production). Finally, for the
oppression, psychologic problems, or for
escaping reality, they choose to consume a dose of “Soma” (drug).
Let me your comments:
What do you think about If in the real world people become equal or has a washed mind?

Sociological
Criticism:
Society:
The movie presents some society groups in which the predominant is the
children, they have control of Gatlin that was the little town where the
children live. They are a group of demonic cultists.
Power:
the power belongs to the children, neither adults have part in the movie.
Economy:
The economy of the town is mostly agricultural,
and the town is surrounded by vast cornfields. One particular year the corn crop
fails and the people of Gatlin turn to prayer in an attempt to ensure a
successful harvest. In the past, the corn suffered blight and fell victim to
natural forces such as pests and dry spells.
Government:
(dictatorship, communism): as we have seen before the government in the town is
directed by Isaac helped by Job and Sarah, the only man who appears in the
movie is an old man who refuses to help Burt and
Vicky due to his secret agreement with the children to supply them with oil and
gasoline in exchange for his life. He was threatened. However, Malachai breaks
the pact against Isaac's will and murders the old man and his dog once Burt and
Vicky leave.
Mythological
/ Archetypal Criticism:
The characters faces many situation, someone

Belief in Supreme Being: creator, judge, religion.
Religion:The
beginning of the story is narrated by a boy named Job (Robby Kiger) who tells
us that he was the only kid in church that day because the other kids were out
in the field with Isaac – child prophet, preacher and harbinger of doom. There are two additional child characters - the main
prophet Isaac plays a major role as the leader of the cult and Sarah (biblical
names) - who are secretly against the cult.
They belief in “He, Who walks behind the Rows” is in the name of a
prosperous corn harvest.
Isaac Chroner, takes all the
children of Gatlin into a cornfield and preaches to them about the prophecies
of a strange, bloodthirsty incarnation of theAbrahamic God called "He Who Walks behind the Rows"
Creator: children
belief in “He, Who walks behind the
Rows” who was the creator of everything also who blesses the corn fields.
Judge: God, but in
the earth is Isaac who controls every child in the town.
•Images:

lieutenant Malachai, leads the children in a revolution, brutally killing all

Ballerinas.
Harrison Bergeron is one of the best known Vonnegut´s short story for its interesting science fiction concept, and presents a rather horrifying situation through humor and ironies. For instance something ironic in the story is when the announcer struggles to read a comment because of his serious speech impediment, also when the ballerina reads the announcement on television, she had to apologize for her voice because it was weird. Comment: 1. Why does Vonnegut uses the year 2081 in Harrison Bergeron´s story? (personal opinion)
2. For you, what is the most interesting part in the Harrison Bergeron´s story?

Finally, Hughes wrote more than 50 books.
Hughes shows some of his experiences in "Thank you, M'am" short story. As he was interested in black people, and it is showed in this short story, because Hughes was a African American. First, we can notice that the characters of the story: Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones and Roger were black people, so maybe Roger was taken and was reflected on Hughes's origen. Many Africans have lived in devastated conditions, poverty, hunger, lack of education and living without their families, there is so much poverty that many children have to see how to survive. In this case, Hughes caught this situation in the Roger´s role. We do not know if the author lived in any moment some difficult situation but he was care about other people like him, that suffers difficulties.
